For every 2 kilos of Baru nuts sold, we will plant a tree in the Amazon Rainforest!
Through the commercialization of Baru nuts, Mind Up Food is committed to help the reforestation of the Amazon Rainforest and its neighbor, the Cerrado Savanna.
As all of our products are taken from nature, we think that it is only fair that we give to nature something in return. Therefore, the idea of planting trees in one of the most important rainforests in the world sounds ideal to start this project.
This means that when you support us, you will equally be contributing to the reforestation of the Amazon and its neighbor, the Cerrado!
Baru nuts, an ecofriendly nutritional powerhouse
The Baru nut is a product from the Cerrado that possesses the status of a superfood! The seeds come from the fruits of the baruzeiro tree, which only exists in this region. The nut's production process is still predominantly manual and employs many people in the countryside. The commercialization of Baru nuts establishes a cycle towards sustainability by producing little impact on the environment and favouring local production at a fair price.
Rich in many nutrients, like proteins and essential amino acids, essential fatty acids (omega 6 and omega 3), potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, fiber, iron, zinc and vitamin E, the Baru nut has many health benefits! It helps to reduce cholesterol by preventing cardiovascular diseases, promotes fertility due to its high concentration of zinc, besides assisting in body weight control and more glowing skin and hair.
How does this project work?
We have established a partnership with The Black Jaguar Foundation NGO in order to make this project reality possible!
The Black Jaguar Foundation has been working on a reforestation project on the banks of the Araguaia River since 2014, which springs from the Cerrado towards the north, in the Amazon, where it reaches the ocean. The Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor will seek to reconnect the remaining areas of native forest for 20 kilometers on each side of the banks of the river.
The BJF Project is one of the largest reforestation projects in the world, with an impressive dimension of 2600 km long and 40 km wide. The project will save thousands of species of fauna and flora that depend on their natural environment to survive.
